Results of the Photography Competition 2026

This summer, the results of the third annual Friends of Foots Cray Meadows (FFCM) Photography Competition were announced. There were fewer entries this year, but there was still a rich catalogue of images relating to aspects of Foots Cray Meadows and life in our treasured wildlife area.

As in previous years, the results and presentations were given by Richard Winston, the chief competition judge and an accomplished wildlife photographer, at the FFCM Annual General Meeting on 10 July, held at Geoffrey Hall off the North Cray Road.

The winner this year was Simon Jarvis for his entry Morning Mist. His winner’s prize included a £50 Amazon voucher plus a framed copy of his successful picture. Simon was runner up in last year’s competition. He was also awarded third place this year for his entry Kingfisher.

Second place was Paula Gordon for her entry A Meadows Meditation.

A maximum of five entries per person were allowed and the judging panel scored each photograph according to the following criteria:

Impact
Creativity/originality
Composition and technical quality
Clearly relates to Foots Cray Meadows

Following three successful years, the Photography Competition will run again in 2027, so take your camera with you to the meadows and look out for announcement of further details of the competition. This year we will be opening our competition to all. You will not have to be a member of the FFCM to enter!

After the successful production of a calendar for 2026, featuring a selection of the images we received via this competition, the FFCM Committee is looking forward to producing another calendar for 2027. Keep an eye out out for further notices about that..
