Results of the Photography Competition 2025

Earlier in the summer, the results of the second annual Friends of Foots Cray Meadows (FFCM) Photography Competition were announced. Around 50 entries were submitted from 13 individuals, creating a rich catalogue of images relating to aspects of Foots Cray Meadows and life in our treasured wildlife area.

As last year, the results and presentations were given by Richard Winston, the chief competition judge and an accomplished wildlife photographer, at the FFCM Annual General Meeting on 1 July, held at Geoffrey Hall off the North Cray Road.

For the second year in a row, the winner was Roger Payne for his entry Winter Colour. His winner’s prize included a £50 Amazon voucher plus a mounted copy of his successful picture.

Second place was Simon Jarvis for his entry Frosty Flight, while third place was presented to Tanya Zapolskaya for her entry Depth of the Sky.

A maximum of five entries per person were allowed and the judging panel scored each photograph according to the following criteria:

  • Impact

  • Creativity/originality

  • Composition and technical quality

  • Clearly relates to Foots Cray Meadows

Following two successful years, the Photography Competition will run again in 2026, so take your camera with you to the Meadows and look out for announcement of further details of the competition.

The FFCM Committee is also looking into producing a calendar featuring a selection of the images.
